Muktamar Nahdlatul Ulama Ke 35 di Pondok Pesantren Tambakberas Jombang, pasti akan mengingatkan kembali semangat Nahdlatut Tujjar dan Tashwirul Afkar-nya KH. Wahab Hasbullah. Beliau mengajarkan semangat kemandirian ekonomi, khususnya kemandirian jalur distribusi barang-barang kebutuhan ekonomi umat dan tata kelola ekonomi berbasis komunitas. Dua hal ini setidaknya dapat meningkatkan perputaran dan kemandirian ekonomi serta efektivitas jalur distribusi umat Nahdlatul Ulama.  Iya, Isu kemandirian ekonomi bukan tema baru bagi NU. Isu ekonomi justru mengakar jauh sebelum organisasi ini lahir.
